“COWONGAN”
the masterpiece of Banyumas ancestor
The rare of Banyumas culture is already exist. Cowongan is
one of the Banyumas culture that exist by Mr. Titut Edi P on 2006. He is an
artist from Pangebatan village, Karanglewas, Banyumas. “ As I know since there
was coconut trees and I began to show it on 2006 in Soetedjo hall”, Mr.
Titut said.
Cowongan
is use to make rain in dry season by the citizens around the village near the
Serayu river. The media that use in this show is from empty coconut shell.
However, Mr. Titut usually use another media like ebeg, pocong, string and etc.
This culture does not only show the puppet but also the tradisional dance from
Mr. Titut with their dancer and sometime he colaborate with his wife who
basicly a dancer.
He really proud of
the young generation who wanto to know about Banyumas culture especially
Cowongan and he hope that Cowongan can be know by every people in order to keep
it exist.
